Bullfighting - Elisa Rotger

Bullfighting is a tradition in Spain, Portugal, Latin American countries and southern France where one or more bulls are fought and killed in a bullring as part of a ceremony for public display. It’s true that it’s been a tradition for a long time, but I think it’s just a cruel slaughter, not even a sport, that works only to amuse people with a really weird sense of humour.
On the one hand, bullfighting is an established part of those countries culture and supporters say that others should try to understand and respect this. What’s more, they maintain that the bulls are not being mistreated. In addition, they defend their point of view claiming that this sport, tradition and art brings economic benefits to the city council, something that, yes, can be true, but would you kill more than 30,000 bulls in a year to get money?
On the other hand, bullfighting is criticized by animal rights activists, referring to it as a cruel or barbaric blood sport. It’s just a hideous sport (if you can say so) to amuse hideous people, and what they only do is to mistreat the bulls until they die.

In my opinion, I believe that is horrible that people call that as a ‘sport’ when they are just killing cruelly some animals that, in spite of the fact that they have lived a good (but short) life, don’t deserve to die that way. In conclusion, I think that bullfights are just another way to entertain people with weird likes and a cruel tradition that we shouldn’t keep performing.
